We are looking to offer the middle school students an even better opportunity to grow in their faith by using a new resource called, "The Catholic Connections Handbook for Middle Schoolers." This handbook is a guide for young teens on what it means to follow Jesus and be Catholic today. This handbook offers a summary of what God has revealed to us through His Son Jesus Christ, and what the Church has passed on from generation to generation through the working of the Holy Spirit. The handbook is a companion to the Bible and helps the young teens learn about the Catholic Church, and its beliefs about God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the sacraments, Christian morality and justice, and prayer.
The cost of the handbook will be added to the first year of this three-year program. For example, an incoming 6th Grader would pay for the book as part of their fee for ThE EDGE ($55, $65, or $75) depending on registration deadlines. Their 7th Grade and 8th Grade year, they will NOT have to pay for the book, even though we will be covering other sections of the handbook. NEW 7th and 8th GRADE STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE THE BOOK AS AN "ADD-ON" OF $25. RETURNING 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS WILL ONLY PAY FOR THE COST OF THE CLASS ($30, $40, or $50) depending on registration deadlines. If you are confused, contact Scott Lawson and he will clear up any confusion.
Here is what we will be covering:
2016-2017 School Year - Part 5: Christian Morality and Justice
Part 6: Prayer
2017-2018 School Year - Part 1: God, Revelation and Faith
Part 2: Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit
2018-2019 School Year - Part 3: The Church
Part 4: Liturgy and Sacraments
